Pakistan cricket is in disarray after skipper Babar Azam declined to take the field on Day 2 of the third Test against England in a protest.
Former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif, who confirmed the development on a local news channel, called the entire incident regrettable and requested that Ramiz Raja investigate the problem as soon as possible.

Babar was away for the first hour of the second day, and Mohammad Rizwan assumed command. Babar’s absence was initially attributed to a headache; however, it was later revealed that he had stayed in the changing room because he was upset about an altercation he had with a security guard the night before while leaving for dinner.

According to several reports, the event occurred on the eve of the second day of the Test match. On Saturday night, Babar and some of his colleagues including Imam Ul Haq and Azhar Ali were headed towards a restaurant in Clifton to eat supper when the Pakistan captain was quizzed by a security guard.

If the players intend to leave the hotel grounds, they must notify security ahead of time, however, this was not done on this occasion, resulting in a heated dispute between Babar and the security personnel. The guard apparently took objection to solely Babar, which irritated Pakistan’s captain.

“Babar Azam is the captain of the Pakistan team after all”: Rashid Latif

Latif believes that the possibility of Babar and the PCB fighting is not what Pakistan cricket needs right now and anticipates the board chairman to step in as soon as possible.

“Obviously, questions will be raised. The explanation was not stated. Whoever is to blame, chairman Ramiz Raja should look into it. Someone fresh has been assigned to Karachi, but he must be made aware that they are here to watch after the team and its players, not to bother them,” Rashid Latif said.

“He is the captain of the Pakistan team after all. This should have been looked into and I think as a protest, Babar Azam refused to step into the ground. I mean, the Pakistan cricket captain is complaining against his own board for his own safety. We need to ensure this doesn’t happen, “ Rashid Latif added.

The PCB is anticipated to undergo a significant upheaval, and Ramiz Raja, the current chairman, is anticipated to lose his position. Babar could potentially be questioned as Pakistan looks on in disbelief as they lose 0-3.
