Pakistan cricket is undergoing change, with a new chairman and an interim selection committee appointed just days before the start of the New Zealand Test series at home. Ramiz Raja has been replaced as the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board by Najam Sethi, and Shahid Afridi, a former captain, will preside over a three-person selection panel.
A few days before the start of the series in Karachi, Afridi has already begun to assert himself by adding three bowlers to the Pakistan Test squad for the New Zealand series.

There have been rumors that Sethi is opposed to Babar Azam remaining as Test captain following a string of home series defeats, the most recent being a historic clean sweep at the hands of England.
“Our job is to give our efforts on the field”: Babar Azam
A day after the two significant announcements, Babar acknowledged that the players’ attention is still on cricket, regardless of what occurs off the field.
“In the last 3-4 days a lot of things have changed. I feel, as a professional, you do come across such situations. But our job is to give our efforts on the field and perform for the team to the best of our abilities” Babar Azam said.

“Those things are happening off the field and our focus on the Test series, on how to have a good start and perform well in all the matches. In the last series, we could not perform well as they committed small errors, but we will be looking to rectify those mistakes,” Babar Azam Added.
The Afridi-led committee, which replaced the Mohammad Wasim-led panel, has only been named for the home series against New Zealand, which consists of two Tests and three One-Day Internationals.
