Ramiz Raja was sacked as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Najam Sethi took his place. Over the past few weeks, the PCB has seen a number of changes.

The men’s senior selection committee also underwent a total makeover with Shahid Afridi replacing Mohammad Wasim in the position of interim chief selector. Along with Afridi, former cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum were also on the panel.

Ramiz Raja had made incendiary remarks about being fired as PCB chairman after the revamp, saying he wasn’t permitted to “the office and retrieve my belongings.”

“Najam Sethi tweets at 2 in the night that Ramiz Raja is out. Is this respect for a former captain? I was not even allowed to go to the office and collect my belongings,” Ramiz had said on Monday on his YouTube channel.

“The morning after the decision to fire me was taken, there were about 17 people running around the PCB headquarters as if they owned it”

“It seemed as though I had done a crime and was taking incriminating evidence from my office. What kind of tamasha is this? These guys have only come to have fun and gain attention… they know nothing about cricket” Ramiz Raja Added.

“Ramiz Raja should consider doing commentary now”: Salman Butt

Salman Butt, a former Pakistan captain who has continuously criticized the decisions made by the former PCB chairman throughout his term, responded to Ramiz’s remarks by saying that Ramiz should consider himself “fortunate” to have been given the opportunity to lead PCB.

“Ramiz Raja was fortunate that the new government permitted him to work for several months after taking office, They not only did not remove him immediately, but they also encouraged him. There have been discussions about removing Ramiz. It took time. I believe his recent remarks have left a bad taste in my mouth” Butt explained.

“People have been fired before, but no one has ever behaved in this way after being fired. He’s acting like a child who has had his toy stolen. He should not be making such pronouncements and should exercise some restraint. Butt suggested that he consider doing commentary now” Salman Butt Added.

Imran Khan, the former prime minister and the captain of Pakistan’s World Cup-winning team, selected Raja as PCB chairman in September 2021. Raja held the position for 15 months.
