PAK vs NZ: "I Told Babar Azam That You Are The Best Player In The Country" - Simon Doull Reveals His Interaction With Babar Azam

Pakistan is all set to lock horns against New Zealand in April-May 2023 for a white ball leg series featuring 5 T20Is and as many as ODIs. New Zealand would be without their star players due to IPL commitments. Babar Azam most likely will lead the side after taking a break from Afghanistan T20I Series. Babar Azam would be aware of the fact that Pakistan had lost ODI Series by 1-2 in 20233.

The 5-match ODI Series won’t be a part of World Super League points but with ODI WC 2023 around the corner both the teams would be aiming to get some ideal match practice.  Pakistan & New Zealand have already directly qualified for the marquee ODI WC 2023.

Babar Azam has been receiving a lot of flak for his low strike rate where in PSL 2023, where during commentary Simon Doull stated that Babar should bat a bit more aggressively & play for the team rather than milestones where he struck his maiden ton in PSL against Quetta Gladiators. Simon Doull got quite a few abuses from the fans where the situation got out of the control

Simon Doull later was seen having a conversation with Babar Azam where Simon made it clear that there is no rift between him & Babar Azam. Babar Azam would be wary of the fact that they can’t take New Zealand lightly.  New Zealand would get a chance to test their bench strength where James Neesham (*if selected) can make a case for himself for ODI WC 2023 after refusing a central contract.

Simon Doull revealed his interaction with Babar Azam on social media. Simon Doll emphasized the fact that Babar should not get afraid to get out.

“I told Babar that you are the best player in the country; I believe you should be bullying this tournament and owning these bowlers. You, at times, are afraid to get out, but you shouldn’t ever be afraid to get out. At some point in your innings, that shows, and that was kind of the gist of my whole chat with him,” said Simon Doull.
