The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be held in India later this year, and New Zealand stalwart Trent Boult intends to participate after his country barely missed winning the title in 2019.
Boult is eager to make up for the mistakes made in the 2019 Cricket World Cup final and expects to have another chance to shine at the prestigious competition later this year in India.

Trent Boult Hoping To Be There At World Cup In India
New Zealand, who lost the match in the Super Over on boundary count against England in the Cricket World Cup 2019 final at Lord’s, still feels the effects of that defeat. Boult terminated his New Zealand central contract in August 2022 so he could play in other domestic leagues and spend additional time with his loved ones.
In order to compete in different domestic T20 tournaments across the world and devote more time to friends and family, Boult opted out of his New Zealand central contract in August 2022. He does, however, want to board that trip to India for the World Cup later this year.

“I want to be there to have another crack and I hope that is still the case,” Boult said speaking to the Australian newspaper The Age. “It’s still a wee way away.”
WTC Win Proudest Moment For Us: Trent Boult
But since that fateful day at Lord’s, the Kiwis have emerged as a serious competitor, particularly in ICC competitions. Since then, they have participated in two finals and a semi-final. In June 2021, they won the ICC World Test Championship Mace after defeating India in the title bout.
The victory broke New Zealand’s 21-year winless streak, with their previous significant ICC success being way back in 2000 at the ICC KnockOut Trophy.
Boult reflected on the process leading up to the contest and the subsequent victory.“For us even to get to that stage as a Test-playing nation of however many people (five million), playing probably only eight Tests a year – if that.”
“To get two years of results to get into the final, and then beat India – 1.4 billion people – will never happen again. I think that’s one of the proudest achievements any New Zealander could have, when you look at the sheer size of it.”
