The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is rapidly outpacing its window for selecting a new head coach, with Andy Flower the most recent candidate to withdraw from consideration.
The ruling body is yet to decide on Saqlain Mushtaq’s replacement, despite the fact that 2023 is a World Cup year. Mushtaq’s tenure with the board expired after New Zealand’s series against Pakistan.

Andy Flower Avoids Pakistan Cricket Board’s Offer In Order To Continue With Franchise Cricket
According to reports, former Australian coaches Justin Langer, Tom Moody, and Andy Flower were all considered for the position but have since declined, each giving a different explanation for their decision.
Andy Flower doesn’t appear to be interested in leading a national squad, like Pakistan, preferring to work with T20 clubs.
“I am currently enjoying the duties of franchise cricket, PCB is aware of this and therefore avoided the offer,” he stated this in an interaction with a private Pakistani news outlet.

In the world of cricket coaching, the former Zimbabwean international is one of the hottest commodities. His coaching assignments, which keep his schedule full, include Multan Sultan in the Pakistan Super League, Saint Lucia Kings in the CPL, Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, and the Gulf Giants in the ILT20.
Additionally, Pakistan was unable to get the services of former coach Mickey Arthur, which means that the squad is running out of time to secure a coach at a vital moment.
Najam Sethi, the acting PCB head, is adamant about having a foreign coach assume the position but may need to find a short-term solution if things do not change.
