The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has given NOCs to four players namely, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Amir, and Imad Wasim to play in the upcoming CPL 2024.

With Pakistan cricket in almost turmoil, a few of them are concentrating on playing T20 cricket leagues across the globe.

Amir and Imad Wasim came out of their international retirement to play in the T20 World Cup. However, the move did not work out as the Men in Green were eliminated from the group stage itself.

Losses to UAE and India saw them getting knocked out of the tournament in the USA and the Caribbean. Now with the CPL 2024 starting a few seasoned T20 cricketers are willing to go back and play in the league.

According to reports, the PCB has issued the NOC to four players for the event that starts on 30th August while the NOC request by Saim Ayub has been declined as he is currently playing Test cricket.

Azam Khan is now set to represent the Guyana Amazon Warriors, while Fakhar Zaman will be joining the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. Fast bowler Mohammad Amir & all-rounder Imad Wasim have also received NOCs for the CPL.

Both Amir and Wasim will be playing for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. Last month, the PCB denied the NOC to Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi for participating in Global T20 League Canada.

The reason behind the PCB denying NOCs to players is that they have a tight schedule till May 2025. The biggest tournament that the Men in Green will be playing next year is the Champions Trophy 2025 for which they are the nominated hosts.

However, the work in progress to renovate stadiums has been very slow and there are concerns whether all arrangements will be prepared on time.

The main priority for the Mohsin Naqvi-led board is the players' fitness and making sure they remain injury-free and are well-rested.

There have been questions rained for the fitness standards of Pakistan cricketers in the past as well. The pacers especially Shaheen Afridi have picked up many injuries in recent times and have been in and out of the team.

Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi and the well-wishers of the Pakistan team are concerned about the status of Test cricket in the country as well.

They have not won a Test match at home since 2022. As many of their players are willingly playing franchise T20 cricket leagues, their standards of international cricket across formats are declining.

Former cricketers and experts have blasted the team for their recent defeat to Bangladesh in the first Test at home.

The loss has put them in a spot of bother in the remaining WTC campaign. They will now have to win all the remaining 8 Test matches to be eligible to make the final.

Speaking about CPL 2024, the league starts on August 30 and the final will be played on October 7. The Guyana Amazon Warriors are the reigning champions of the CPL having won the title in 2024.

They won against Trinbago Knight Riders beating them in the final by nine wickets. The CPL 2024 season opener will be between Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Antigua.
