Pakistan Women Appoint Nida Dar As Captain; Mark Coles To Be The Coach For Two Years

Massive changes have been brought into women’s cricket for Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have named Nida Dar as the captain of the team and they handed a two-year contract to the former New Zealand cricketer Mark Coles to be the coach of the team.

Not only this, but they have also named Saleem Jaffar as the chair of the Women’s Selection Committee. The former Test cricketer also will be the bowling coach of the side along with Taufeeq Umar, who will be the batting coach, and Mohtashim Rashid, who will be the fielding coach.

All the appointments were confirmed by the Chair of the PCB Management Committee Najam Sethi. The change in women’s cricket for Pakistan has been made keeping in mind the upcoming home series against South Africa tour and tours to Bangladesh and New Zealand for the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 fixtures.

Following the appointments, Najam Sethi spoke and congratulated all those getting selected. He spoke about why they picked certain individuals for the role and said that they are confident that they will help women’s cricket grow further. He explained:

Pakistan’s Women’s upcoming schedule till July 2024

The Nida Dar-led side will play five bilateral ODI series, that’s will see them playing 15 games. Apart from this, they will also play 17 T20Is. The games will be played to help the Pakistan Women’s team prepare for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and ICC Women’s World Cup in India, which will be held in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Aug/Sep 2023 – South Africa tour to Pakistan (three ODIs & three T20Is)

Oct/Nov 2023 – Pakistan tour to Bangladesh (three ODIs & three T20Is)

Nov/Dec 2023 – Pakistan tour to New Zealand (three ODIs & three T20Is)

Feb 2024 – West Indies tour to Pakistan (three ODIs & five T20Is)

Jul 2024 – Pakistan tour to England (three ODIs & three T20Is).
