Ashes 2021-22: Pat Cummins Returns Home Having Missed Day-Night Affair In Adelaide
Australian Test captain Pat Cummins was allowed to return home to Sydney, the team confirmed on Friday. The fast bowler missed the Adelaide Test after being in close contact with a Covid-19 positive person.
Just an hour away from the start of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval, Cummins was excluded from the playing XI. He was in the same restaurant as the person with the positive case and was moved into isolation.
Cummins was tested on Thursday itself and his result turned out to be negative, South Australia’s SA Health stated. As a result, he was allowed to fly home via a chartered flight, Cricket Australia revealed.

The CA also mentioned that Cummins will have to remain in isolation after reaching home as part of the protocol. It might be a period of 10 days but Cummins might be allowed to train, keeping in mind the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
“Under the plan approved by SA Health, he will self-drive from isolation and then, with the appropriate PPE and hygiene controls, take a single charter flight. Cricket Australia will continue to consult with SA Health to ensure compliance with the plan. He will continue to observe all isolation requirements in NSW,” CA mentioned.
In Cummins’ stead, Australia saw the return of Steve Smith, the Test captain, after a gap of over 3 years. Along with Cummins, Josh Hazlewood was also ruled out of the day-night affair due to an injury.
