PBKS Qualification Scenario: How Punjab Kings Can Qualify For IPL Playoffs 2025 After KKR vs PBKS

Punjab Kings' match against Kolkata Knight Riders was called off due to rain and a wet outfield. The match took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday (April 26).
PBKS had the opportunity to return to winning ways, but rain denied them a crucial win. Batting first, the Shreyas Iyer-led side scored 201/4 in 20 overs. Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya starred with the bat for the tourists, scoring 83 and 69 respectively. For KKR, Vaibhav Arora was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets.

Having defended a modest 111 against KKR earlier this month, PBKS must have fancied their chances of defending 201 runs against the reigning champions. However, rain played spoilsport and brought a premature end to the game. KKR were on 7/0 after 1 over when the game was halted and eventually called off.
Playoffs qualification scenario for PBKS:
PBKS will be feeling disappointed after rain cost them one crucial point at such an important phase of the tournament. However, they are still in a good position and are looking set to finish in the top four for the first time since 2014.
They are currently in the fourth spot in the points table with 11 points after 9 games. They have won five games so far and have lost three, while the game against KKR was washed out. They will play five more league games this season, and they are likely to qualify for the playoffs if they manage to win two more games.
Two more wins will take their points tally to 15, which will be enough for a top-four finish. However, they would like to win at least three games to ensure that their qualification does not depend on net run-rate.
The way the tournament has gone so far for PBKS, they will not only target a spot in the playoffs but also a top-two finish. It will give them two opportunities to book a place in the final. PBKS are yet to win the IPL and will be desperate to go all the way this year.
