After being restricted to 167/9 in the ongoing game against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, Chennai Super Kings needed a strong start with the ball, and their fast bowler Tushar Deshpande once again delivered for them.
The right-arm pacer had missed CSK's last game against Punjab Kings due to a niggle. In his absence, CSK suffered a seven-wicket defeat while defending 162. Before that, Tushar Deshpande had starred with the ball for CSK against Sunrisers Hyderabad and helped them get back to winning ways with a four-wicket haul.
He had dismissed the dangerous Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Anmolpreet Singh inside the powerplay before sending back Pat Cummins as well to power CSK to a big 78-run victory. And on Sunday (May 5), he hit the ground running against PBKS.
Tushar Deshpande struck in his very first over to send back the dangerous Jonny Bairstow and gave CSK the much-needed early breakthrough. Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner started the proceedings with the ball and conceded just two runs before Tushar Deshpande came to bowl the second over.
After starting with a wide, the CSK pacer made Bairstow edge one behind the stumps although the ball ran away for a boundary. On the second ball, Bairstow took a double before being dismissed on the third ball. It was a good length delivery that nipped back in and Bairstow was beaten for pace. Bairstow was taken aback by the pace as the ball sneaked past his bat and hit his pad before deflecting onto the stumps.

At the time of writing this report, PBKS were on 52 for 2 in the seventh over with Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh batting in the middle. Earlier in the game, CSK finished their innings on 167/9.
