Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson opened up about the ‘No handshake’ saga between Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC). He said that it’s a rumour that mongering but isn’t too sure about it.
The game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals was a near-perfect game for the Faf du Plessis side. They displayed a great performance with both bat and ball and ended up winning the game by 23 runs.

The duo ignore each other and walked off straightaway. After the game, it was reportedly learned that Virat Kohli unfollowed Ganguly on social media and the former BCCI President returned the favour after a few days.

Amid the rift between the two, Shane Watson, who is the batting coach of DC, talked about the same and said that he isn’t aware of it and is something he doesn’t want to be part of. He also spoke about how being aggressive brings the best out of Virat Kohli.
“It could be rumour mongering, but I’m not sure. So, it’s not something I want to get involved in. But there was definitely some fire in Virat’s belly, that’s for sure. For an opposition point of view, that’s the last thing you need as well. Virat, when he’s like that, that’s when he’s at his absolute best. Whatever reason that was, I’m not exactly sure,” Speaking to Grade Cricket.
Notably, it can assume that the rift between the two took ignition during Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly’s tenure as skipper of the Indian team and President of the board respectively. After the batter decided to step down from the T20I captaincy he was sacked as the skipper of the ODI side and also then stepped down as the Test skipper.
