England Test captain Ben Stokes made a huge statement that caught the attention of many. He claimed that his team will live forever in the memory of the fans and people are lucky to witness the Test side play cricket.

England Test captain Ben Stokes surely has changed the way how Test cricket is played. Ever since he has taken over the leadership of the team, the Three Lions have looked like a completely different side as they have played aggressively even in the format, which tests skill, patience, grit, determination, and character.

The Ben Stokes-led England team has entertained the fans throughout the world. But they don't have a great success to show and flaunt. They have lost just one series under Stokes and Brendon McCullum but they haven't won anything major too that should be praised too much.

Ben Stokes as the captain failed to win the Ashes at home. The series ended in a draw and after that, they faced a 4-1 thrashing against India. Despite the team not winning the Ashes due to the washout in the Manchester Test, the skipper wasn't bogged down by it.

Speaking in a documentary about the 2023 Ashes series, released by the ECB this past week, Ben Stokes after the Manchester Test told his teammates that what they have done will not be stopped just because they couldn't win. He highlighted the great things done by his team and stated:

“Everything we’ve done up until now isn’t going to stop because we haven’t managed to win the urn back. The reward for our work isn’t what we get but what we become.

“And what we have managed to do is we’ve managed to become a sports team that will live forever in the memory of people who were lucky enough to witness us play cricket."

What we have done is something a lot bigger than any Ashes trophy could ever signify for this team - Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes further was heard saying in the documentary that his team has done something a lot bigger than any Ashes. He urged his teammates to play in a way that everyone will remember. He elaborated:

“I know it’s going to be a bit flat, I know it’s going to hurt that we go into the next game (at The Oval) not being able to get the urn back. But what we have done is something a lot bigger than any Ashes trophy could ever signify for this team – be the team that everybody will always remember.”

Ben Stokes since the 11 Test matches hasn't been able to make a big impact as the captain. In the last few games, he has won just 4 games and would be hoping to turn things around this summer. England will be next seen in action when they will take on West Indies in a three-match series. The games between the teams will be starting on 10th July.
