Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are trying their best to claim a victory in front of their home crowd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. After clinching the thriving Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya, they took the crucial wicket of the other opener, Prabhsimran Singh, after a while.
The way PBKS started the run chase seemed to be dented by the impactful bowling of the CSK bowlers. Prabhsimran Singh departed after scoring 43 runs from 34 balls. During this time, he hit a total of seven boundaries, including six 4s and one six. Sarfaraz Khan, who played an explosive knock in the first innings, ran out the PBKS batter.
Prabhsimran Singh tried to steal an extra run between the stumps
Singh went to sneak an extra run. Khan, near the boundary rope, quickly picked up the ball and threw it to the bowlers' end, where captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was waiting at the right position. Gaikwad collected the ball smoothly and launched the bails. Prabhsimran Singh was run out, a huge blow for the Punjab Kings. Chennai Super Kings are coming back into the contest steadily.

Prabhsimran Singh's runout did not spoil PBKS' party in Chennai
The run out of Prabhsimran Singh might have brought hope to Ray for the Yellow brigade, but it did not reflect the reality as Punjab Kings went to claim the match in style. Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the team, led the team again from the front and secured another win in the ongoing season.
Back-to-back two wins for the team, and on the other side, it was the second consecutive defeat for the Chennai Super Kings, the 5-time IPL champions who finished in tenth place in the ten-team league in the IPL 2025 points table.
The runners-up of the IPL 2025, PBKS, completed the run chase in 18.4 overs and had 5 more wickets in hand. Shreyas Iyer and his team claimed the win based on a pure team effort. On the other side, Chennai Super Kings performed well with their bat, but might have lacked quality in their bowling.
Can the IPL authority impose another fine?
Meanwhile, during the run out of Prabhsimran Singh, someone from the fielding side used some absence towards the flow. In a previous instance, during the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Abhishek Sharma was accused of using foul words during the match.
According to the IPL Code of Conduct, using offensive words during a match is considered an offence. Sharma was fined for the sanction, accused of breaking the code of conduct. According to the rules, the SRH was directed to pay a fine from a portion of his match fee. Will we see another step taken by the authority for the same offence committed on the ground, for another player? It willbe interesting to see.
