It was a low-scoring final at Providence pitch which was not easy for run-scoring. St. Lucia Kings won the toss and put the home side Guyana Amazon Warriors to take the first strike.
The Amazon Warriors struggled on a tricky pitch at Guyana as they found the run-scoring incredibly difficult. At 97-7, it seemed like the Amazon Warriors would be bowled out in front of their home crowd.
However, allrounders Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius provided some late impetus with some powerful shots at the death. Pretorius scored 25 off 12 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes and was dismissed off the penultimate ball of the innings.
Shepherd, meanwhile, remained unbeaten on 19 off 9 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Noor Ahmad finished with 3-19 for St. Lucia Kings while the rest of the bowlers picked up a wicket each.
St. Lucia Kings stage a turnaround with the bat
Chasing 139 runs to win, St. Lucia Kings came out confidently but were slow to get off the blocks. They were reduced to 51-4 when wicketkeeper Tim Seifert was dismissed. However, a great partnership under pressure followed to bail St. Lucia Kings out of trouble.
USA's Aaron Jones joined Roston Chase at the crease and showed aggressive intent with the bat. Despite being reduced to 51-4 in 9.5 overs, the Kings did not lose any further wickets and chased down the target with 11 balls to spare.
Chase remained unbeaten on 39 off 22 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes while Aaron Jones scored a brilliant 48* off 31 balls that included 2 fours and 4 magnificent sixes. Despite starting well with the ball, the home team failed to maintain pressure and lost the game.

It was the first ever title win ever in the CPL for the St. Lucia Kings. The name of the team was changed from St. Lucia Zouks to St. Lucia Kings before the IPL 2021 season.
Preity bought a franchise team for the first time in 2007 for the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, which was staged in 2008. The team that she bought was named Kings XI Punjab at that time, which was later changed to Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2021 auction.
However, Punjab Kings are one of the worst-performing teams in the history of the IPL and is one of the four teams not to win an IPL trophy so far. They have reached the IPL playoffs just two times, in 2008 and 2014.
