As Prithvi Shaw looks to bring his career back on track, he has finally reached the UK for his maiden stint in county cricket. The highly-rated opener has fallen down the pecking order in the Indian team in recent months and has not played for India since July 2021.

He was recalled to the T20I team earlier this year for the home series against New Zealand but did not play a single game. It was followed by a disastrous outing in the IPL and he has lost his place in the T20I team once again. Prithvi Shaw could not even make it to the squad for the Asian Games where a second-string team will represent Team India under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Prithvi Shaw all set for county stint:

Prithvi Shaw will be looking to impress with the bat in his maiden county stint. A good performance in testing English conditions will definitely impress the selectors. And Prithvi Shaw has now finally got the green light to play in the county after some logistical delays.

Last month, he signed up a deal with Northamptonshire to play the remainder of the County Cricket season and also be a part of the Royal London One-Day Cup. He was to leave for the UK a couple of weeks ago right after the conclusion of the Duleep Trophy. However, his departure for the UK was delayed due to a visa issue. Prithvi Shaw will now start his county stint with a one-day cup game on Friday (August 4).

“I am delighted to say Prithvi arrived in the UK today (Sunday) and will feature in our one-day cup starting Friday, August 4. Official announcement (will come) tomorrow (Monday),” Ray Payne, the Chief Executive of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club (NCCC), told Cricbuzz.

Prithvi Shaw will have the likes of David Willey and Andrew Tye for the company in his county side. The Mumbai star will become the fourth Indian to sign up with a county side this season after Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Arshdeep Singh, and Navdeep Saini.
