Railways' Ashutosh Sharma Shatters Yuvraj Singh's Record Of Fastest T20 Fifty

Railway batter Ashutosh Sharma has shattered Yuvraj Singh’s record of fastest fifty in the T20s. The batter achieved the feat in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 game against Arunachal Pradesh at the in Ranchi.

Ashutosh Sharma smashed a half-century in just 11 balls. He played a staggering cameo and put his team in the dominating position. The middle-order batter surpassed Yuvraj Singh’s tally of 12 balls. The former India cricketer held the record for the last 16 years. He had smashed fifty against England during the 2007 World Cup.

Ashutosh Sharma came to bat when Railways was 131 for 4 in 16 overs. He played a blistering innings and put the opposition under pressure. He ended with the knock of 53 runs from 12 balls. The batter batted with a gigantic strike rate of 441.66 and smashed eight sixes and one four in his innings.

Thanks to his rollicking knock, Railways smashed 115 runs in just the last five overs. Ashutosh Sharma’s staggering knock powered his team to a total of 246 for 5. This was only his second T20 for the team and he made sure that he set the stage on fire.

Ashutosh made his debut T20 debut in 2018 for Madhya Pradesh. He didn’t play many games in the format with his last match coming in 2019. The middle-order batter is yet to make his FC debut and has played just one 50-over game for Madhya Pradesh.

Ashutosh Sharma after his knock not only broke Yuvraj Singh’s record but he also entered the world charts. The Railways star became the batter with second second-fastest half-century in T20s overall. He joined Nepal’s Dipendra Singh, who hit the fastest fifty. He achieved the feat in 9 balls during the Asian Games 2023 match.

Ashutosh Sharma so far has a great record in fewer T20s he has played. The batter has scored 289 runs at an average of 32.11 and a strike rate of 181.76 in just 9 innings.
