Rajasthan Royals (RR) will eye their second trophy in IPL 2024. Rajasthan Royals were the winners of the debut season in 2008. However, they never managed to win the trophy once again. In IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals will aim for a better show than last season.

The Sanju Samson-led side could not qualify for playoffs last season. RR finished in the 5th spot in the points table. With 7 wins and 7 defeats across 14 matches, Rajasthan captured 14 points in their kitty. However, they went short of 2 points to steal a place in the playoffs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was the best performer for the team in the last edition. With 625 runs in 14 games, the left-handed batter finished as the fifth-highest run-getter in the tournament. Jos Buttler was next with 392 runs. Skipper Sanju Samson added 362 runs across 14 games with 3 fifties.

Among bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal was a stand-out bowler for the side. With 21 scalps in 14 games, he ended as the top wicket-taker for the team. Chahal won the orange cap in the 2022 season and came up with another brilliant show in the 2023 season. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin followed him with 14 wickets in 13 games. Pacer Trent Boult was next in the queue with 13 wickets.

Ahead of IPL 2024 auction, Rajasthan Royals released 9 players from their squad. Some popular players that RR released from their squad were Jason Holder, Joe Root, Murugan Ashwin, and Obed McCoy. RR also grabbed 5 players into their squad ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 auction.

Rovman Powell was the costliest pick for Rajasthan Royals at the price of Rs. 7.40 crore. RR also bid for uncapped player Shubham Dubey and spent Rs. 5.80 crore for the team. They also grabbed Proteas pacer Nandre Burger for Rs. 50 lakh. Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Abid Mushta were other players that RR picked into their side during the mini-auction.

Rajasthan Royals were the first champions of the Indian Premier League who won the title in the debut edition in 2008. Later, they failed to reach playoffs till the 2015 season, when they grabbed a place in the top four.

After their return in IPL 2018 after missing two seasons, RR reached the playoffs. However, they could not reach the final on any occasion till IPL 2022, when they ended as runners-up after losing the final to Gujarat Titans. In IPL 2024, RR will aim for a fightback to grab the title this time.

IPL 2024 will witness a battle among 10 teams. RR had a close call last season, as they finished in the fifth spot. Overall, many batters and bowlers failed to make a mark in the last season. However, they will aim for a comeback in IPL 2024.

BCCI has not announced the schedule for India Premier League 2024 yet. However, the tournament usually begins at the final weekend of March. However, since the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 commences on June 1, Indian Premier League 2024 might start early this year.
