Ranji Trophy To Be Held In Two Phases; Will Begin On February 10 And End On June 26

The much-awaited Ranji Trophy will begin on February 10 and end on June 26. It will be played in two phases on either side of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as per the letter written by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.
All the states received the message on the details regarding the domestic season. The venues for the same were also confirmed and they are spread across 9 venues to ensure that safety protocols can be followed keeping in mind, the health of the players.
“I am pleased to share that we are now truly set to resume both international and domestic cricket with full thrust. The coming months are going to be replete with cricketing action.
“We have waited patiently for the grip of the pandemic to loosen and the time has come for our cricketers to take center-stage all over again,” Shah wrote in his letter that was accessed by ANI.

“We have spread out the Ranji Trophy to 9 different venues across the country to mitigate any cross-transmission risk while ensuring the bio-secure bubble is not overburdened,” he added.
As usual, there are eight Elite Groups of four teams each and one Plate Group consisting of six teams. The top team in each elite group will enter the quarterfinal and the lowest-ranked among them will play a pre-quarterfinal against the top-ranked team in the Plate Group.

Ranji Trophy groups
Elite Group A: Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Meghalaya (Matches to be held in Rajkot)
Elite Group B: Bengal, Baroda, Hyderabad, Chandigarh (Matches to be held in Cuttack)
Elite Group C: Karnataka, Railways, Jammu and Kashmir, Pondicherry (Matches to be held in Chennai)
Elite Group D: Saurashtra, Mumbai, Odisha, Goa (Matches to be held in Ahmedabad)
Elite Group E: Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Services, and Uttarakhand
Elite Group F: Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Tripura
Elite Group G: Vidharbha, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Assam
Elite Group H: Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, and Chattisgarh
The matches in groups E-H will be played in Trivandrum, Delhi, Haryana, and Guwahati.
Plate Group: Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. (Matches to be held in Kolkata)
