The young India National Cricket Team leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi lauded the left-handed batsman Tilak Varma for his batting masterclass in the second T20I against the England National Cricket Team.

Ravi Bishnoi labeled Tilak Varma's knock at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai, as 'one of the best innings' in the history of T20 cricket.

Tilak Varma led India to victory in Chennai

Varma was the main man behind the victory of the Indian team in the Chennai T20I against Jos Buttler & Co. The young batsman showcased his true class and temperament with the bat to steer the hosts to an epic win from a difficult position.

India got a target of 166 runs to chase in the second T20I and they were off to a poor start. Both the openers - Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma - were dismissed for low scores, and Suryakumar Yadav, Dhruv Jurel, and Hardik Pandya failed to make any impact during the run-chase.

The Three Lions were inching closer to the victory by picking up the wickets at regular intervals, but the one batter that they were not able to trouble was Tilak Varma.

The left-handed batsman took his time and played according to the situation. He batted well with the all-rounders and lower-order batters to guide India to a 2-wicket win in the nail-biting clash. Varma ended his innings with 72 runs off 55 balls, with 4 fours and 5 sixes.

'Why should batters have all the fun?' - Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi also played an important role in the win as he scored 9 runs off 5 balls. Bishnoi flicked Brydon Carse for a four through midwicket and then got an outside edge off Liam Livingstone for a four.

After the match, the leg-spinner spoke to the host broadcaster where he was asked about his two boundaries. He responded by referring to a reel that he posted on his official Instagram handle with the caption - 'Why should batters have all the fun?'.

"Today I posted a reel on Instagram - 'Why should batters have all the fun?' When the slip came in, I knew they were trying to dismiss me with a leg-spin. I tried to go over covers, but I got a lucky four," he said.

He's been doing this for the last 2-3 months - Ravi Bishnoi

Bishnoi added that the surface in Chennai was not an easy one to bat on and the bowling line-up of the visiting team was quite threatening.

The leg-spinner further spoke of the red-hot form of Tilak Varma, saying that he has been batting incredibly well in the last 2-3 months across international and domestic cricket.

"One of the best innings in T20s. Wickets were falling, it wasn't an easy wicket and if you look at their bowling attack, they had all the big names," the leg-spinner stated.

"He's been doing this for the last 2-3 months. He got two hundred in South Africa; he's playing well in the domestic arena as well; we knew something big was coming. He's doing really well now."
