Ravi Bishnoi is fresh from a memorable T20I series against Australia finishing with nine wickets in five matches. He ended as the Player of the series and is also the new number-one ranked T20I bowler. However, despite his recent success, he might not be featured in India’s playing XI in the first T2I against South Africa.
Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are back in the Indian T20I side for the South Africa series. Mohammed Siraj the pacer is also back. This means that Bishnoi might be one of the bowlers to sit out in the first game.
Aakash Chopra while previewing the first T20I on his YouTube channel said that the Player Of The Series against Australia recently might find himself on the bench.
“Who was the Player of the Series in the last series – Ravi Bishnoi. You might not be able to play Ravi Bishnoi here. If you play Ravi Bishnoi, you will drop Kuldeep Yadav. You have created a huge dilemma for the team. You won’t be able to play the Player of the Series of the last series at all” Chopra said.

He further said that with the return of Siraj, he along with Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar might be the three Indian pacers. India might opt to field five specialist bowlers. The inclusion of Washington Sundar who was benched throughout the Australia series might give them a sixth bowling option.
If You Play Ravi Bishnoi, Can You Make Kuldeep Yadav Sit Out? Aakash Chopra
“If you play him (Bishnoi), you will feel how can you make Kuldeep sit out. There is no justice. After that, since Siraj is back, Siraj, Arshdeep and Mukesh is what I am thinking” Chopra added further.
He concluded by speaking about Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube as all-round options but pointed out that none can bat inside the top six. Dube who was a part of the squad for the Australia series is dropped from the T20I squad that has travelled to South Africa.
“What are we doing? We are not playing the one or two guys who do that. Washi (Washington Sundar) and Shivam Dube can be there in that but they are not going to bat in the top six” Aakash Chopra pointed out.
The first T20I will be played in Durban (December 10), the second in Gqeberha (December 12) and the third in Johannesburg (December 14).
