Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out that neither himself nor middle-order batsman, Shreyas Iyer, will be retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) for the IPL 2022 season.

Ahead of the mega auction before the next season, teams will undergo major changes as each team has been given the option to retain a maximum of four players. This can either be three Indians and one overseas or two Indians and two overseas players.

Speaking about the possible retentions in the Delhi camp, Ashwin reckoned that he hasn’t been informed about being retained and neither has Iyer.

Shreyas isn’t there I think. I am not there. So, someone else would have to come. I would have known if I were taken,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

“Ravichandran Ashwin is always an attacking option for a captain” – Rohit Sharma

Speaking after India’s crushing 3-0 clean sweep of the T20I series against New Zealand, newly appointed full-time T20I skipper, Rohit Sharma, termed Ravichandran Ashwin as an attacking option in the middle-overs in the shortest format.

He’s always an attacking option for a captain. When you have someone like him in your squad, it always gives you the opportunity to take wickets in the middle and we understand how important that phase is.”

Over the years he’s proved himself with the red ball and even in white-ball, he doesn’t have a bad record. The way he has come back and bowled in Dubai and then two games here. It shows the quality that he has,” Rohit said.

If Ashwin can keep up his good performances for the national team, he can bag a hefty contract in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
