Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is trending on social media after the Indian hockey team defeated Australia Paris Olympics 2025. India defeated Australia after 52 years at the Olympics and in the process are inching closer to a gold medal win at the Olympics.

India defeated Australia 3-2 and advanced through to the quarter-final with some real confidence. Every game is a must-win for India from here on in their quest to win a gold medal at the Olympics. The Indian men's hockey team won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, RCB wished the Indian men's hockey team with a post that has gone viral on social media. They have a slight CSK twist in their post in wishing the Indian men's hockey team well. Meanwhile, this was the first time India beat Australia in men's hockey in the Olympics after 1972.

"Beating yellow-jersey teams hits different. Quarter-finals, here we come" wrote RCB on their official handle of X. A few CSK fans did not take this post lightly and came out with responses to the tweet.

RCB Reignites CSK Rivalry With Viral Post

RCB and CSK have an epic rivalry in the IPL. Both teams have one talismanic Indian player each. While MS Dhoni plays for CSK, Virat Kohli plays for RCB. Both are great friends off the field but intense on the field. The two teams have now played 33 matches against each other after they played two games in IPL 2024,

RCB have won 11 games while CSK 21 almost doubled them. Both teams won one match each in IPL 2024. CSK won by six wickets in the first match. RCB then came back to win the second match by 27 runs. The Chennai Super Kings did not make the playoffs this year while RCB won six on the trot to make it to the playoffs. Their win against CSK came during that winning run.

There might be some changes in the retention rules as predicted after the meeting between the IPL franchises and the BCCI on July 31. MS Dhoni has come out with a statement on his future in the IPL. The 42-year-old said that he will decide on playing the next season based on the retention rules by the BCCI. The board has said that they will decide by the end of August 2024 after reviewing the suggestions by the franchises.

There is a lot of time for it. We have to see what decision they take on player retention, etc. Right now, the ball is not in our court. So, once the rules and regulations get formalised, I will take a call, but needs to be in the best interest of the team" the former CSK skipper said.

Speaking about RCB and CSK, The Bengaluru franchise is yet to win the IPL title after 17 years of playing in the league. They played two finals in 2011 and 2016 losing both of them.

Speaking about CSK, they have won five titles and are the joint-most successful team with Mumbai Indians who have also won five titles. MS Dhoni has won five titles as captain. Ruturaj Gaikwad replaced him as the captain of CSK at the start of IPL 2024.
