Virat Kohli led the side when India won the Under 19 World Cup title in 2008. He is not only the captain of the Indian cricket team but is also the best batsman across all three formats in the world right now.
However, during his journey towards the success, Virat Kohli got his body inked nine times. Every tattoo on Kohli’s body has a story behind it. It also signifies a turning point in the life of the energetic Delhi boy.
Virat Kohli said he found tattoo a little bit cool at his young age.
However, later, Kohli understood tattoo is something that gives him a sense of identity. He started it with a random tribal design and turned into a Shiva on his forearm. It describes how his journey began and where he is standing today.
“To be very honest, when I was young it was about being a little cool when I started to get inked, but slowly I realized that this is something that gives me a sense of my own identity. And from getting a random tribal design, to getting Shiva on my forearm now, it is a reflection of how my life has gone where it stands today and what I think and see of life back then to now.” Virat Kohli stated in the first episode of National Geographic’s Mega Icons based on him.
Moreover, Virat Kohli has 23 million Instagram followers, and he has nine tattoos each of which is either inspired by turning points in his life, or things he seeks inspiration from.
These include God’s eye, a Samurai warrior, his parents’ names, his Test and ODI cap numbers, and the Hindu God, Shiva.
“I don’t need to look any further than my both my arms to understand where I was and where I’ve come now,” Virat Kohli says.
