The MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai is hosting the 8th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Friday, March 28.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are going head-to-head with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at their home venue in a high-voltage IPL match.
CSK started off their Indian Premier League 2025 campaign with a 4-wicket victory over the arch-rivals Mumbai Indians while RCB won their tournament opener by 7 wickets against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Over the years, the CSK vs RCB matches have been mainly about the two biggest icons in the history of cricket - MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli - going face to face.
Meanwhile, it has been the MS Dhoni-starrer team that has dominated this rivalry as the head-to-head record stands 21-11 in their favour. Things have been a little closer in the last cycle as CSK lead the head-to-head record but with a margin of 3-2.
Talking about the matches between the two teams in Chennai, CSK have won 8 out of 9 games and RCB's only win came way back in the inaugural season of the league in 2008.

IPL 2025: CSK won the toss and opt to bowl
Speaking at the toss, Ruturaj Gaikwad said that they want to be more clinical going ahead in the IPL 2025 and announced Matheesha Pathirana's return to playing XI. He said:
"We are going to bowl first. I think it will play slightly better than the last game. So far there hasn't been any dew, we don't know when the dew will arrive and it is not in our control. There are areas; we were sitting behind in the field and would like to be more aggressive, batting wise we can be more clinical. We have just got one change - Pathirana comes back for Ellis."
Rajat Patidar talked to Ravi Shastri next and he said that the toss decision doesn't matter to them and they would look to post a big total on the board. He also announced the selection of star pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He stated:
"We had decided to bowl first. It will not make much difference, the surface looks hard, we will try to put up a total and keep them under pressure. The boys did well in the last game. We have to be at our best in every game and we will try to do that today also.
"The bowling unit after 13 overs.. the way they came back was amazing to see, the intent shown by the batting side was good. It is one of the biggest games in the league because of the fans it makes it fun and exciting. One change - Bhuvi comes in for Rasikh."
