Rinku Singh is currently gearing up for his first-ever multi-nation tournament, as he has managed to retain his place in India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. After narrowly missing out on the T20 World Cup last year, Rinku Singh is determined to make every opportunity count this time.
The 26-year-old has been working tirelessly in recent weeks and notched up two half-centuries in practice games ahead of the UPT20 League, where he is representing Meerut Mavericks. It gave him confidence ahead of the continental tournament.

Rinku Singh was quoted as saying by the Times of India, “This is the first time that I've got the opportunity to play in a multinational tournament. Last year, I missed out on the T20 World Cup. If I am given the chance to play in the eleven, I will give my best.”
Speaking about his role in the Indian cricket team that has often been debated, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer has made it clear that he is not a “finisher.”
Rinku shined in the IPL 2023 at No. 5, playing match-winning runs, and carried that success into international cricket, where he already smashed three fifties for India in the same position.

The 27-year-old called the 2023 IPL season the “best phase” of his career. He added, “I have no inhibitions about batting in any position.” Beyond his batting, Rinku is also ready to contribute with the ball, with selectors increasingly valuing multi-skilled players.
He added, “Cricket has become fast-paced, and selectors believe that if a player has both bowling and batting skills, it benefits the team. All-rounders are given preference in the team. I bowl quite a bit in the domestic circuit and have taken many wickets. I have also taken wickets internationally. I have been bowling for a while, though not as much, but now, I am prepared for it.”
Meanwhile, the left-handed batter is confident that India will defend the Asia Cup, and he wants to make the most of the chance if he gets the chance. He added, “We are confident that we will win the tournament. Winning the Asia Cup will be as good for me as for anyone else.”

Rinku Singh hails UPT20 as a gateway to IPL and international cricket
Furthermore, Rinku hailed the UPT20 League as a great platform for young players to showcase their talent. He noted that the tournament is turning into a big opportunity for the Uttar Pradesh players to get an eye for the IPL and eventually pave the way for international dreams.
Rinku signed off by saying, “I thank Rajeev (Shukla), sir, and UPCA for successfully conducting the tournament for the third consecutive year. The tournament gives 10-12 prospective cricketers for the IPL every year. Those who perform well in the UPT20 League have better chances to be roped in by IPL franchises.”
Notably, Rinku Singh has so far played 33 T20Is and scored 546 runs, including three fifties, at an impressive strike rate of 161 and at an average of 46. Even with limited chances, his performances prove he’s a dependable yet explosive option for India.
