Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has recently shared a lighthearted moment during an appearance on Tanmay Bhat's YouTube channel.

Known for his on-field brilliance and sharp wit, Rishabh Pant offered an amusing insight into his interactions with Rohit Sharma, particularly the unique challenge of decoding the Indian skipper’s typical Mumbai-style language.

I only understand what Rohit Sharma is saying on the ground: Rishabh Pant

The left-handed batter said that he confidently understands Rohit's on-field signals, but he humorously admitted to finding his captain’s off-field banter a bit confusing.

Rishabh Pant said on Tanmay Bhat's YouTube channel, “I understand what he is saying on the ground. However, I don't understand much when it comes to off the field.”

Sharing more about his playful side, Rishabh Pant also opened up about his efforts to sledge his former captain and batting stalwart Virat Kohli during the Delhi Capitals' league-stage clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024.

Actually, the 26-year-old was not playing in that IPL 2024 match as he was banned for one game due to DC’s third slow over-rate offense in the tournament. However, Rishabh Pant still found a way to make his presence felt during DC’s must-win IPL 2024 encounter against RCB.

In a cheeky attempt to distract Kohli, Rishabh Pant positioned himself behind the screen, adding a humorous touch to an intense game. However, DC suffered a 47-run defeat in that game against RCB, but this lighthearted exchange added a delightful moment to this year’s IPL drama.

Rishabh Pant further noted, “It was one of the most important matches of the season for us, and we needed to perform well. I couldn't play that match and was thinking, What could I do from the outside?”

During the same discussion, Rishabh Pant admitted that he shared an amazing relationship with the former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri. The talented player revealed that Shastri had given him a lot of freedom, and they had a good understanding between them.

Praising Shastri’s coaching approach, the Indian star noted: “Instead of telling me not to do something, he would give me a better option. I believe in that approach. I don't like when someone says that this cannot be done.”

He also revealed that it was Shastri who advised him to start playing the reverse sweep against off-spinners to counter the challenges in Test cricket. Meanwhile, Pant is all set to make his Test comeback with the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home.

He had last played his Test match against the Tigers in December 2022. On Sunday, September 8, the BCCI announced the 16-member squad for the Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai.

The Indian wicketkeeper earned a recall to the Test side following his impressive performance in the 2024 and brilliant fifty in the second innings of the Duleep Trophy 2024 match for India B against India A at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

India B had defeated India A by 76 runs in the opening round of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. India B will next face India C in the ongoing Duleep Trophy in Anantapur from September 12.
