Former India National Cricket Team batsman Robin Uthappa has brutally slammed the former Australia National Cricket Team skipper Michael Clarke for making the Harbhajan Singh–S Sreesanth IPL slapgate video public.

Robin Uthappa dropped an F-bomb and questioned how Michael Clarke would have felt if someone leaked an offensive video of an Australian cricketer that was meant to be private.

How did the IPL slapgate video get leaked?

The ugly slapgate incident happened during the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season when Harbhajan Singh slapped S Sreesanth on the field after a match between Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) and Mumbai Indians.

Harbhajan gave a backhand slap to Sreesanth, which shocked everyone, and the pacer was seen crying on the live broadcast.

After the incident, the IPL governing council came down hard on Harbhajan Singh and handed him a suspension along with a heavy fine. Since then, Harbhajan Singh has apologized to Sreesanth several times and labelled that incident as the biggest mistake of his life.

Things cooled down between Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh, and both now share a good bond. However, the IPL slapgate once again became the talking point when video footage of the incident was made public by Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke in a Beyond23 podcast in August 2025.

What the f*** man? How does someone get away with stuff like that? - Robin Uthappa

Since the video of the incident has been made public, Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth's wife, Bhuvneshwari Kumari, have slammed Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke. Now, Robin Uthappa has also given a brutal bashing to Clarke while dropping an F-bomb.

“That whole Slapgate thing that happened in the IPL. What the f*** man? How does someone get away with stuff like that?" Uthappa said on the Kim-Appa show with Jarrod Kimber.

“Now, imagine we put up a clip of something that an Australian did that was offensive, that was kept under wraps for the respect of that whole situation, to save the respect of that situation, which is an impulsive, bad decision that a human being made… Now that you have gone and interviewed someone, and you have got access to the file, do you think you have the right to publish it, put that into the world, and make those two people go through that whole emotion, that raw emotion, 20 years later?" he added.

Where is your sense of sensitivity and empathy for other people? - Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa lashed out at Michael Clarke for the lack of empathy shown and said that doing unethical things for views is not right.

"Where is your sense of sensitivity and empathy for other people? We all make mistakes, but are we going to keep putting it out there to make people go through the embarrassment of the wrong choices the person has made?

"For me, it’s guys who aren’t brown skinned who get away with it a lot more. Today, we are speaking about Sunny G having an opinion on what other countries speak about Indian cricket. But what about this? Imagine the human implications of this… You can’t treat people like crap just because it’ll get you more views," Robin Uthappa added.
