India captain Rohit Sharma overtook teammate Ajinkya Rahane in the special list for India in the history of the ICC World Test Championship. The opening batter now has more catches than the middle-order batter with 30 grabs to his name in the tournament.

Rohit Sharma claimed his 30th catch in the ICC World Test Championship during the ongoing first Test of the five-match series against England. The game between the two giants of the game is taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma gobbled his 30th catch when took a blinder in slips to send the England batter packing. It happened during the 15th over of the first innings when Ravindra Jadeja bowled a tossed-up delivery on his off stump to which the batter attempted to push forward.

Rohit Sharma scored 24 runs off 27 balls before getting out to Jack Leach. The India captain tried to hit the batter for a six but didn’t time it and was caught by his English counterpart in Ben Stokes.

Virat Kohli has the most catches by an Indian player in the ICC World Test Championship with 39 scalps to his name. Rohit Sharma bags the second spot with 30 catches whereas Ajinkya Rahane is at 3rd with 29 catches. The next on the list is veteran Cheteshwar Pujara, who has taken 21 catches. Young batter Shubman Gill is also on the list with 15 takes to his name for the team.
