Indian spin duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up six of the 10 wickets against England on Day 1 of the Hyderabad Test. R Ashwin, who was sitting on 490 Test wickets ahead of the first IND vs ENG Test, now has 493 wickets and has the chance to touch the 500 mark.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are the most successful Indian spin duo and have picked up 505 wickets together. They recently went past Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh, who picked up 501 wickets for India while bowling together in Tests.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have scripted many famous Test wins for India and have broken the backbone of the opposition team. Apart from bowling, both the bowlers also have an extra added quality of decent batting and can score whenever needed for the country.

While speaking on Jio Cinema, Ravindra Jadeja expressed his feelings about bowling with Ravichandran Ashwin. Jadeja stated that he enjoys bowling with Ashwin and believes that it is really helpful for the team when the bowlers bowl in that tandem. Jadeja further revealed that he also discusses the field setting with his partner whereas he also added that both the bowlers enjoy the competition together.

Ravindra Jadeja needs 25 more wickets to touch the 300-wicket mark whereas, Ravichandran Ashwin is just 7 wickets away from the 500-wicket milestone. Jadeja believes that Ashwin will complete the milestone in the first Test itself whereas, for Jadeja, it might take the whole Test series.

Ravindra Jadeja makes huge prediction on R Ashwin

Ravindra Jadeja said, “I really enjoy bowling with Ashwin, it is really helpful with two spinners bowling in tandem. We share a lot of messages around field setting, line and length and we are happy to contribute to India’s win. We really enjoy the competition.”

“It will be a big achievement if Ashwin completes 500 Test wickets and I hope he gets it in this match. I am left with 25 wickets for 300 and it might take the whole series, but I wish Ashwin completes his 500 in this game itself and continues taking wickets for India.”

England were able to finish their first innings at 246 runs after the Indian bowlers didn’t allow ‘bazball’ to work in Hyderabad. The visitors were off to a decent start but lost wickets in bunches and never really got going throughout their innings. Captain Ben Stokes was the highest run scorer of the English innings and scored 70 runs from 88 balls. England maintained a run rate of 3.20, which is the slowest since the introduction of ‘bazball’.

The Indian team performed brilliantly while batting in reply to England’s first innings of 246 runs. India added 80 runs under the first 13 overs and showcased what real ‘bazball’ means. Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was the anchor of India’s charge and was unbeaten on 76 runs off 70 balls after the end of Day 1.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is very much on the verge of reaching yet another century and will look forward to doing the same on Day 2 of the first IND vs ENG Test match.
