India spinner Kuldeep Yadav picked the best captain he has played under, namedropping Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 clash against Australia. He said that he couldn't pick one among them as he has enjoyed playing under both of them.
Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are amongst the best captains to have led the Indian National Cricket Team. After MS Dhoni stepped down as the captain of the team, it was Kohli, who took charge in all three formats of the game and made sure he took the team to new heights.
Virat Kohli instilled the fitness culture in the team and made India dominate in all three formats of the game. Under his leadership, the India National Cricket Team started winning games outside India in all the formats and was touted as one of the best touring teams in the world.
Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, India won their first-ever Test series in Australia and showed the way to the team on how to win in overseas conditions. He also took the team to the final of the Champions Trophy in 2017 the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2019 and the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2021.
Virat Kohli after the T20 World Cup 2021 stepped down as the captain of the team and after that, Rohit Sharma's Era started. The opening batter made sure that he carried the legacy left by MS Dhoni and Kohli and continued the dominance of the team across the formats.
Rohit Sharma instilled a fearless attitude in the players and urged everyone to play aggressive cricket. He guided the team to the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022, the final of the World Cup 2023 and the final of the World Test Championship in 2023.
Rohit Sharma is currently captaining the Indian team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. During an interaction with journalist Vimal Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav was asked to pick the best captain he has played under. While touting the greats of Indian cricket as best captains, he said that both Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli are the best. He stated:
"Virat bhai and Rohit Bhai are the best captains I've played under in internationals. They're the Jai-Veeru, can't pick one"
Kuldeep Yadav in the game against Bangladesh was at his best. He bowled 4 overs in the game and tilted the game in his team's favor. The leg-spinner picked 3 wickets and returned with the figures of 3/19. His sensational effort saw India restricting Bangladesh to a total of 146 runs and winning the game by 50 runs.
