"Rohit Sharma should quit captaincy and retire": India captain blasted for horror show in Mumbai Test
Indian captain Rohit Sharma's poor run of form continued as he was dismissed for yet another low score during the third Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai. Despite playing on his home ground Wankhede Stadium, Rohit was unable to get amongst the runs.
Chasing 147 runs to win, Rohit walked out to bat with his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease. However, he was dismissed in just the third over of the innings when he tried to play his favorite shot off Matt Henry.
Henry bowled a short-of-a-length ball which Rohit tried to pull towards midwicket. However, he got a top edge and the catch was brilliantly taken by Glenn Phillips running backwards.
It was the end of another unconvincing innings from the Indian captain. He was brutally slammed on social media for his poor form this Test season at home. Fans even called him a walking wicket and asked him to consider retirement.

This is point where Rohit should quit captaincy and retire. Doing that after Australia tour would be going out after losing 2 series in a row. Not a good way to leave a legacy @bhogleharsha @ImRo45

There is line between brave and reckless, and Rohit's batting in this home season had veered increasingly towards the latter. It’s almost like he doesn’t trust himself to bat long anymore.

Rohit was hiding behind this aggressive intent because he knew that he was out of form.

Just 133 runs in the last 10 innings at home is not how you want your captain to lead the side.
What shot is that Rohit?? What shot? @RevSportzGlobal

Trying to get my head round Rohit's approach. Struggling. That was a wicket on a platter and ends a disappointing home season for him with 133 in 10 innings.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both should retire from test cricket after BGT !!

Rohit Sharma's horror Test run
With this knock, Rohit Sharma's poor home Test season ends on a disappointing note. Rohit scored 133 runs in 10 innings in Tests against Bangladesh and New Zealand which is way below his high standards.
His next assignment is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia where he will be tested. While Rohit was dismissed cheaply, the other Indian batters too did not add much to the scoreboard. Indian batters' struggle against New Zealand spinners continued in this match as well.
