Rohit Sharma left the Delhi Capitals players baffled after he tricked the wicketkeeper KL Rahul and the skipper Axar Patel into wasting a review for a down-the-leg appeal, which he turned into a moment by walking a few steps towards the square leg.

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals clashed in their second match of the IPL season for the franchises. The Mumbai Indians were being led by their stand-in skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, after Hardik Pandya struggled with some form due to injury.

Despite having lost the toss, the stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav looked relieved as he mentioned that his team would have opted to bat first had they won the toss. However, the Mumbai Indians struggled on a slower pitch and could not set a huge target in front of the Capitals.

Rohit Sharma tricked the DC skipper into wasting a DRS

However, Rohit Sharma never shied away from once again flexing his wit and sharp cricketing antics, as he tricked his own Indian teammates KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel into wasting a review while he knew that he was not out.

Putting all his experience to work, Rohit foxed KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav into believing that he had nicked a ball down the leg, and they took a review challenging the umpire's decision. That was when Rohit, who had walked a few steps across the pitch, immediately returned with a broad smile on his face.

The decision reviewed was turned down by the Third umpire, and the DC skipper had surely walked into the trap set by the great mind of Indian cricket. This happened during the fifth delivery of the 9th over against Kuldeep Yadav's bowling.

"He has foxed them into taking a review," Ravi Shastri praised Rohit's cunningness from the commentary box

Once the replays showed that there was a huge gap between bat and ball for any batter to understand, the commentators were in total awe of Rohit's cunningness that deceived the opposition players. Ravi Shastri, the former India coach, did not back down from praising Rohit, calling him a 'Shana.'

“How good was Rohit Sharma there. He has foxed them into taking a review by walking five yards towards the square leg. We have to see that again. That's brilliant from Rohit Sharma,” said Ravi Shastri on air.

Even the Zimbabwean former pacer Pommie Mbangwa was also in awe of the former MI captain's presence of mind. “Rohit's walking back, and he's halfway to the fence. The beauty was when he started laughing once they went upstairs. He's laughing because, ‘I got you and I made you take it. You are going to lose a review'."

Rohit tops the Orange Cap list with an elite IPL record vs DC

Despite all the trickery, Rohit could not continue his innings for a long time after that, which he even confessed during the post-inning chat with Ravi Shastri and Murali Kartik. He was dismissed for 35 runs in the very next over off skipper Axar Patel's bowling.

Rohit scored his 100th 30+ score in the IPL and became just the second player, after Virat Kohli, to have reached the elite milestone. On the other hand, with these 35 runs, Rohit now has 113 runs in this IPL after two innings and is the topper on the scorers' board of the competition.
