India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma talked about the relationship of players with the coaching staff led by Gautam Gambhir after the series loss to the New Zealand National Cricket Team. He said that they are new in the job and they are also understanding how this team operates.

India National Cricket Team coaching staff led by Gautam Gambhir hasn't had a great time ever since they came on board. Their lowest point came on Sunday (3rd November) when the team faced a 3-0 whitewash against the New Zealand National Cricket Team in the Test series.

India faced a whitewash in the Test series against New Zealand

India, who had never faced a whitewash in-home tests, displayed a terrible performance with the bat and ball. They were outplayed by the New Zealand National Cricket Team in all three games as Indian batters turned out to be the biggest disappointment, failing to tackle the spinners.

Rohit Sharma himself, along with other senior batters, couldn't step up for the team. This was also the first time that the India National Cricket Team went on to lose the Test series at home since losing to England at home in 2012-13.

Yes, the coaching staff have been good - Rohit Sharma

While talking about the coaching staff, Rohit Sharma admitted that they are new to the setup and are still getting used to the team. He believes that it is the responsibility of the players to make life easier for the players. While speaking to reporters, he explained:

"Yes, the coaching staff have been good. They have just come in. It’s not been a lot of time for them. They are also understanding how this team operates, and how the player operates. This is the first Test series loss in the two-Test series that they have been in,

"Look, it’s the players’ responsibility to do their job or make their life easier because it’s never easy for anyone to come in and start doing what they are doing, you know because there are a lot of different individuals here, and they operate slightly differently."

It’s been only four or five months now, too early to judge anything - Rohit Sharma on Gautam Gambhir

Rohit Sharma further mentioned that it's the responsibility of the players to walk on the thought processes aligned by the coaches. He admitted that they have failed to do that and stated that Gautam Gambhir and his staff are in their early days, and it's not fair to judge anything this soon. He added:

"So, it’s important for the players to make sure that they know what they are, what the thought process is of the coaching staff to align on those thought processes and, you know, take it forward. Like I said, it’s been only four or five months now, too early to judge anything, but they have been good with the players," he concluded.
