A tough time is going on for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as they faced a disappointing loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). This now puts them in the spot of bother as their road to qualification now becomes very tough.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced a poor 11-run loss at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 42nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between the two teams took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday (24th April).

Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their first win at home in the IPL 2025 as they beat Rajasthan Royals. They were magnificent with the bat and ball and managed their 6th win overall in the ongoing season.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru were asked to bat first and thanks to Phil Salt (26) and Virat Kohli (70), they were off to a flying start. The duo added 61 runs for the opening before Devdutt Padikkal (50) did the further damage with Kohli with their 95-run stand.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) came under massive pressure but after that, they made a slight comeback. In the end, Tim David (23) and Jitesh Sharma (20) also played decent hands as Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a total of 206 for five.

In the chase, Yashasvi Jaiswal (49) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (16). The duo stitched 51 runs for the opening partnership with the senior batter doing the bulk of scoring. Nitish Rana (28), who walked at three, played brilliantly and put pressure on the opposition.

Skipper Riyan Parag (22) tried to be aggressive but he couldn't carry on that as Rajasthan Royals (RR) was left tottering at 162 for five. But, it was Dhruv Jurel (47) who tilted the game in his team's favour with his brilliant innings but Josh Hazlewood oozed his class at the death as RCB won by 11 runs.

Rajasthan Royals are placed 8th on the points with just 2 wins under their belt from 9 games to go with 7 losses. Their chance to qualify for the playoffs are very bleak now as even if they win all their games they won't be sure of getting a place in the top four.

Wins in all of their remaining five games will take them to 14 points. But their qualification will then depend on the NRR as well as how other results pan out in the league.

However, if they face a single loss, RR will be out of contention virtually. Mathematically, they will be in contention because at 12 points, once has a team made it through to the playoffs. (SRH in IPL 2019). But more than one loss will eliminate them.

Next three matches of the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals will be next seen in action when they take on Gujarat Titans on Monday (28th April) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After that, they will host Mumbai Indians on 1st May followed by the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on 4th May at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
