Rashid Latif, a former captain of Pakistan, was extremely impressed with England batting sensation Harry Brook and called him the “next Babar Azam or Virat Kohli,” despite England’s alarming performance.

A series in which the defending ODI World Cup champions England are struggling is being discussed far away from the existing India-New Zealand series and the next, eagerly awaited Border-Gavaskar Test series. With one game remaining, they have already lost the three-match series.

Young Harry Brook greatly impressed Rashid. After making his England debut exactly one year prior in the T20Is against the West Indies, Brook gained notoriety with his sensational 153-ball innings against Pakistan in the Rawalpindi Test. Later, he finished the series in Multan and Karachi with back-to-back tons and a 65-ball 87.

He did start off with a three-ball duck on his ODI debut last week, but he recovered impressively to smash a 75-ball 80, albeit in a losing cause.

Speaking on the YouTube channel “Caught Behind,” Rashid praised Brook as the upcoming star of international cricket while pointing out that Sunrisers Hyderabad had acquired Brook for a staggering INR 13.35 crore at the IPL auction last December.

“If you look at Brook’s performance then in the last couple of innings he was just outstanding. He just doesn’t stop. He also became one of the most expensive overseas players in the IPL auctions. Brook is now one of the best players in the world at the moment, among the current crop of players. He could be the next Babar Azam or Virat Kohli,” he said.
