The England board has decided to exclude Harry Brook from the next SA20 T20 competition in South Africa. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) informed his team Joburg Super Kings and the event’s organisers Cricket South Africa (CSA) of the plan on Wednesday (December 28). It appears that the ECB withdrew in order to control the talented batsman’s workload.

The team purchased Harry Brook, a former captain of the England Under-19 team, for R 2.10 million at the auction held earlier this year in Cape Town.

Joburg Super Kings To Look For Harry Brook Replacement

“Since he plays all three formats, the ECB thinks it is too risky to permit him to play the SA20. We have received the communication from the ECB last night,” Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, who is also the owner of the Johannesburg team in the South African league, made this disclosure. “We will have to look for a replacement.”

The three-match ODI series between South Africa and England, which will take place during the middle of the T20 competition’s debut season from January 10 to February 11, is where Brook is anticipated to play, though. The three ODIs are scheduled for January 27, January 29, and February 1.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who paid INR 13.25 crore for the prolific England batter by beating off Rajasthan Royals in a heated bidding war, is certain the player would be available for the upcoming season. The ECB decision is unlikely to have any impact on the player’s availability for the IPL 2023.

Faf du Plessis, a veteran of CSK, is the team’s captain, while Stephen Fleming, a longtime CSK coach, is in charge of the coaching staff. Nandile Tyali, Wandile Gwayu, Albie Morkel, and Eric Simons are all members of the support staff, as well as having formerly played for the CSK side.
