Royal Challengers Bangalore leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was once again on the song as he chipped in to rescue his team out of a difficult situation against KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings.

RCB went on to upset PBKS as they pulled off the game in the final overs to win by six runs despite Punjab having a strong command during their chase.

As usual openers, KL Rahul (39) and Mayank Agarwal set the stage for the team’s target but all RCB was required to do was to break the partnership.

Chahal accounted for Mayank Agarwal’s wicket as the batsman attempted to sweep him but could only find a leading-edge that landed safely in the hands of Mohammed Siraj.

Three balls later the leg-spinner cleaned Sarfaraz Khan’s stumps with a sharp leg-break delivery as PBKS were reduced to 121/4 at the end of the 16th over.

I think it’s too late now: Saba Karim On Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal was ignored by the Indian selectors in the T20 World Cup squad as they preferred Mumbai Indians leg-spinner Rahul Chahar ahead of India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is.

Former Indian player Saba Karim feels it is too late to make changes in the T20 World Cup squad and also cited that during the Sri Lanka tour, Chahar, who claimed four wickets in the two T20I games he played, had performed better than his contender.

“I think it’s too late now. People have been talking about making changes in the squad, but that can only happen if someone gets injured. You also have to see Rahul Chahar was performing very well when he got selected,” Saba Karim told YouTube channel IVM Podcasts.

“We saw both of them (Chahal and Chahar) in Sri Lanka, and his performances there were definitely noteworthy, which is why he was picked by selectors, ” he added.

Yuzvendra Chahal will have to wait a little: Saba Karim

Chahal has been in tremendous form with the bowl in the second leg of IPL 2021, he has picked 10 wickets in five games. Saba Karim said the players who are selected will be analysed first before Chahal is drafted into the squad.

“Now, in the second half of the IPL, Chahal has shown great improvement in his performances, which is very good. But he will have to wait a little. The players who have been selected, their form and performances will be seen before Chahal is given a chance again,” Saba Karim said.

India’s T20 World Cup campaign will commence on October 24 against arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening game.
