Sandeep Lamichhane To Play For Trinbago Knight Riders In CPL 2021

Nepal’s star leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has joined the defending Caribbean Premier League (CPL) champions Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) ahead of the CPL 2021 tournament. He had played for Jamaica Tallawahs last season and will now strengthen the TKR franchise’s spin department with Sunil Narine.

The Trinbago Knight Riders won the CPL 2020 held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in the Caribbean without losing a single match in the tournament under the captaincy of Kieron Pollard. They faced the St. Lucia Zouks in the final of the CPL 2020 and thrashed them by 8 wickets to lift the trophy.

This Is Going To Be An Awesome Ride – Sandeep Lamichhane  

Sandeep Lamichhane has played 21 matches in the CPL so far, picking up 27 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.80. He has previously represented St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Barbados Tridents, and Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League tournament.

The 20-year-old, who had made quite a name for himself outside Nepal and has played in T20 leagues all over the world, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Big Bash League (BBL), and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to name a few, posted a message on Twitter and mentioned his excitement of joining the TKR team.

The leggie was recently seen in action in the tri-nation T20I series featuring Nepal, Malaysia, and the Netherlands. He picked up 13 wickets in five matches, with his best figures being 4 for 48 against the Dutch. He played a huge role in Nepal winning the series, with the hosts beating the Netherlands in the final.

The 9^th season of the Caribbean Premier League is scheduled to be played from 28 August to 19 September 2021 and all the matches will be played in Saint Kitts and Nevis due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
