Sanju Samson, the new CSK recruit who was traded in from the Rajasthan Royals, has already been promoted to a new role in the Men in Yellow camp. Recently, after his appointment, another official from Kerala has joined the CSK camp.

The Chennai Super Kings finished last in the previous season of the IPL, and they desired to make several changes to their core squad. One of the major changes came in the form of Ravindra Jadeja's trade and Matheesha Pathirana's release from the team.

The CSK team traded in Sanju Samson from the Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja, the veteran all-rounder. Samson was brought in with much anticipation over his batting position and his role as a wicket-keeper batter in the long run for CSK.

Former KCL scout joins CSK after Sanju Samson's inclusion

The inclusion of Sanju Samson raised several questions within the CSK camp and the franchise's fans. The first and foremost confusion was whether Samson would be handed the captaincy and Ruturaj Gaikwad would be snubbed.

Ever since Gaikwad took up captaincy at the Chennai Super Kings, he has yet to play a full season for them, as his campaigns have often been affected by injury setbacks. However, no such indications of a captaincy swap have been provided at the end of the Super Kings' management.

As of now, Robert Fernandez, a player scout who was part of Sanju Samson's Kerala Cricket League team, the Kochi Blue Tigers, has joined the Chennai Super Kings as a new talent scout for CSK. He was part of the team that won the KCL this season.

CSK is most likely to target seasoned spinners in the mega-auction

The Chennai Super Kings have parted ways with all of their former spinners. Ravindra Jadeja (traded) and Ravichandran Ashwin (retired). They have only retained the services of their highest wicket-taker from the last season, Noor Ahmed.

Yet, Chepauk being their home ground, the Super Kings have relished playing with as many spinners in the XI as possible. CSK have hence been reported to be citing spinners like Vignesh Puthur and Karn Sharma, as they already have a lack of spinners.

Puthur was one of the bowlers to have impressed in the match against CSK, playing for the Mumbai Indians last season. Ravi Bishnoi still remains the finest spinner on show and will rope in a huge bid with CSK, SRH and RCB being the possible contenders.

IPL 2026 might be MS Dhoni's last season for CSK

Ever since MS Dhoni retired from international cricket back in 2020, a buzz around his final season in the IPL has made rounds on social media ahead of the IPL season. MS Dhoni has been part of CSK's camp since IPL 2008, the inaugural season, when he signed the first-ever contract for the Super Kings.

MS Dhoni has played all of the seasons since 2020 and even led them to respective trophies in 2021 and 2023, which marked Dhoni's 4th and 5th IPL titles, respectively. The CSK management tried handing captaincy off to Jadeja, but after some losses, Dhoni was back in the business.

However, now for two seasons, Maharashtra skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has been awarded captaincy for the CSK team, and he is likely to continue, with no new developments around Sanju Samson. As per unofficial reports, this will be MS Dhoni's last season as a player with CSK.
