The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will reach the halfway mark tomorrow with Delhi Capitals (DC) taking on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match no.35 of the tournament. It is the first match of the double header on Saturday. Ahead of the match, there was a fatal incident, as the cricketer was rushed to the hospital.

A Delhi Capitals bowler sustained a significant injury after being hit during a practice session the day before the DC vs PBKS match. According to a video that is viral on social media, the bowler was hit on the face by a ball. The medical team of DC attended to the net bowler at the stadium, and an ambulance was called to the scene.

DC bowler survives fatal injury

The DC bowler was placed on a stretcher before being taken to the hospital. Hopefully, the bowler is fine, and there has been nothing serious. The updated information about the bowler’s health is yet to arrive. The identity of the net bowler is yet to be established, and additional information is also unknown but it is rumoured to be Sahil Parakh.

The 18-year-old left-hander was picked by the Capitals during the IPL 2026 auction but has yet to make an appearance. An update from the franchise is expected. It will be known once the pre-match press conference report arrives for the Capitals.

Delhi Capitals are struggling with injuries

Delhi Capitals have been suffering from injuries as the team's premier pacer, Mitchell Starc, is still not available, having suffered a shoulder injury. Axar Patel himself retired hurt in the game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with cramps. There has been no official update on the DC skipper's injury.

In the same game, Mukesh Kumar was also injured as he left the field after a painful injury while attempting a diving save in the same game against RCB. Kumar held his nose and was in pain. He was forced to leave the field immediately with the team physio for treatment. But both cricketers played the last game.

Delhi Capitals sign Rehan Ahmed

The Capitals had a good start in the IPL as they won the first two games, and then lost two, and then came back to winning ways and suffered a defeat in their last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). They were outplayed in the last game against SRH.

DC have signed a replacement for England opener Ben Duckett, who pulled out ahead of the IPL 2026. The Southpaw has been replaced by his English teammate, Rehan Ahmed. The young legspin-bowling allrounder has joined the squad ahead of the next match.

Rehan has signed for INR 75 lakh. He will surely improve DC's roster, since he can contribute with both bat and ball. The wrist spinner also has experience in worldwide leagues such as England's T20 Blast, Australia's Big Bash League, and the UAE's ILT20. In 97 T20 appearances, he has 85 wickets at an economy rate of 8.13.
