Shaheen Afridi is one of the premier pacers across formats in international cricket going around. He is the number one bowler in Pakistan cricket at the moment. He left a big impression with his spell against India in the T20 World Cup 2021. Afridi’s spell of  3 for 31 helped Pakistan restrict India to 151 for 7, with Hasan Ali picking two wickets and Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan picking one apiece.

Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan then struck unbeaten half-centuries as Pakistan won the game by 10 wickets. Babar scored an unbeaten 68 while Rizwan ended on an unbeaten 79. Pakistan made it to the semi-finals but lost to Australia in the knockout game.

Shaheen dismissed Rohit Sharma with a perfect inswing yorker targeted towards the stumps. He then dismissed KL Rahul with a lethal inswing delivery on a length that nipped back in to sneak through the gates and rattle against the middle stump. India lost two early wickets with Afridi picking 2/19 bowling inside the powerplay.

He came back to dismiss Virat Kohli for 57 in the penultimate over of the Indian innings. The ball bounced a bit too high for Kohli to edge it behind to the wicketkeeper. Afridi picked Kohli’s dismissal as his most prized wicket so far.

Pakistan’s 10-wicket win in the T20 World Cup remains their only win over India in ICC Word Cup events. Both teams will face each other in Melbourne on October 23 in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. India will have their chance at potential revenge in that game.
