The India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match has yet again been a one-sided affair in favour of the Men in Blue. As Suryakumar Yadav and his men extended the lead to 8-1 in the ninth meeting against their neighbouring countries in the T20 World Cup format. The overall record for India vs Pakistan in the World Cup extends to 16-1 in 17 meetings.

After every match, the Team India dressing room awards its players with individual prize as the impact player of the match. India has been practising this since the start of the 2023 ODI World Cup, and it has continued till now. After the India vs Pakistan game, the impact player award was presented to all-rounder Shivam Dube.

Shivam Dube, the star all-rounder for India

Shivam Dube, in the prior match against Namibia, also played a crucial knock on a difficult wicket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, where he scored 23 off 16 and came in to bat in a similar situation to last night.

Pakistan's toss blunder cost them the match

Coming to the match, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. India made two changes with Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav coming in for Sanju Samson and Arshdeep Singh. Despite picking up Abhishek Sharma for a duck, it was Ishan Kishan who smacked the Pakistan bowlers all over the pitch.

While Kishan was batting, it looked like India would go past 200 runs, and the wicket was looking different. However, the Men in Green got some control in the middle overs after dismissing Kishan for 77 off 40 balls. They restricted India for 175/7 in their 20 overs.

Pakistan, while chasing on a wicket which was gripping and turning, never came close. As they lost their top order inside the first two overs, the score was 13/3. A crucial 44 runs from wicket-keeper Usman Khan helped them score past the 100-run mark.

India is on top of Pakistan

Except for Usman, no other batter could get past the score of 30 runs, with a total of three batters scoring in double figures. The Pakistan batting order fell like a pack of cards, one after the other. They were bowled out on the score of 114 as India won the game by 61 runs.

India’s win helped them qualify for the Super 8s, and they have lost just 1 match and won 25 matches across the last four ICC events since the 2023 ODI World Cup. They will be up against the Netherlands on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
