England’s nightmare Ashes 2025-26 tour of Australia took another ugly turn on Saturday, December 13, when tensions spilled over both at Brisbane Airport and Adelaide Airport. The Ben Stokes-led England cricket team has been facing troubles both on and off the field in Australia.
Australia already crushed England in the first two tests in Perth and Brisbane, both matches ending well before five days. The hosts now lead the five-match Test series 2-0 with the third Test scheduled at the Adelaide Oval on December 17.

As the Ben Stokes-led England cricket team made its way to Adelaide for the third Test, a member of England’s security staff was seen pushing a cameraman. While walking through the airport terminal for their flight to South Australia, a security member from the England group confronted Channel 7 cameraman Nick Carrigan, who was filming the team.
During the exchange, the security guard appeared to extend his arm and push the cameraman. Footage of the incident went viral on all Australian media channels, showing the confrontation beginning inside the terminal before continuing outside and later at Adelaide Airport.

As reported by the Herald Sun, England’s security guard said, “Out of my face, mate, out of my face. Out of my face.” When Carrigan questioned the security staff about his actions, the guard responded by saying, “You’re in my face, mate; that’s what you’re doing. Don’t be clever, mate. Don’t be clever.” To which, Carrigan replies, “What are you doing? Mate, you’re assaulting me.”
Later, Channel 7 defended the actions of cameraman Nick Carrigan. The broadcaster said that the cameraman was doing his job in a public place in a calm and professional manner when he was physically confronted, and they are now taking this incident seriously.
Channel 7 said in a statement as quoted by CODE: “While conducting routine filming in a public space, the camera operator was physically confronted despite acting respectfully and professionally. The safety and well-being of our staff is paramount. This matter is being taken seriously and is now being managed through the appropriate channels.”

The drama didn’t end there, as the tensions flared again between the England cricket team and the Australian media during the Ashes tour. In the fresh episode, Darren Chaitman, a reporter for Sunday Mail, tried to approach the team when England captain Ben Stokes questioned why he was filming behind him.
As reported by CODE Sports, Stoked said to the Australian reporter, “He’s just behind me recording like everything I was saying.” However, Chaitman denied the star all-rounder’s allegation.
Amid the confrontation, a member of the England security staff stared at Chaitman while blocking his way and mouthed a derogatory slur, "pr*ck," at the Australian reporter as the latter moved up an escalator.
A reporter was labelled a "pr***" as the team's arrival in Adelaide turned aggro.
