Team India batter Shubman Gill surpassed veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara in an elite list during the first innings of the third and final Test match against New Zealand. Shubman Gill has now become the fourth-highest run-scorer for the India team in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC).
Shubman Gill scored 90 runs, including seven fours and one six, in India's first innings against New Zealand in the third Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The right-handed batter played a crucial role in India securing a 28-run first innings lead. India was bowled out for 263 runs on the second day.
Gill was on track for a century before being caught by Daryl Mitchell off spinner Ajaz Patel. He added a 96-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Rishabh Pant, who scored 60 runs. Washington Sundar added 38 runs from 36 balls, helping India surpass New Zealand's first innings total on the second day.
