India's vice-captain Shubman Gill was seen taking batting tips from legendary batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma before the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka. The match will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Gill has not been in good form in this series. In the first match, he looked out of touch and was dismissed for 16 off 35 balls while trying to break the shackles. In the second ODI, Gill started well and was looking good.

However, he was caught brilliantly at the first slip by Kamindu Mendis off the bowling of Jeffrey Vandersay.

Overall, he has scored just 51 runs in two ODIs of the series so far which is way below his overall standards. Shubman Gill will be looking to play a match-winning innings in the final ODI and prove the selectors' decision of appointing him the vice-captain right.

According to the renowned sports journalist Vimal Kumar, Shubman Gill had a long chat with Virat Kohli before beginning his stint. Kohli was seen trying to explain to Gill about his mindset going into this important game. Both were also seen discussing about the wicket and how to pace the innings.

After his chat with Kohli was over, Gill went for practice. After finishing the practice, the 24-year-old had a long chat with India captain Rohit Sharma. Both had lengthy discussions on tackling spin on such wickets.

Shubman Gill's international record

Shubman Gill has a fine ODI record and has been in India's ODI squad for the past two years or so. The youngster has scored 2322 runs in 46 ODIs he has played so far at an average of 59.53 and a strike rate of 102.11. He has scored six hundreds and 13 fifties in his ODI career so far.

In Tests and ODIs, he is still establishing himself but the Indian team management already sees Gill as an all-format player and a future captain of the team. In 25 Tests, he has scored 1492 runs at an average of 35.52 with 4 hundreds and 6 fifties.

In T20I cricket, Gill has scored 578 runs in 21 matches at an average of 30.42 and a strike rate of 139.27. He has smashed 1 hundred and 3 fifties in the format. Recently, he spoke about improving his T20I batting as well.

In his short international career so far, Shubman Gill has been a brilliant player of pace bowling and loves the ball coming onto the bat. However, he tends to struggle on slow and sluggish pitches which have been the recent norm in the ODIs against Sri Lanka.

India's batters struggle against Sri Lankan spinners

The pitch has offered a good amount of help for the spinners which has limited Gill's scoring areas a bit. But the youngster is talented enough to overcome his weakness and come out on top. It remains to be seen how he tackled the Sri Lankan spinners in the final ODI.

Coming to the series, Team India will be under pressure as they are already trailing 0-1. The first match of the series ended in a tie while Sri Lanka clinched a memorable win in the second match.

Sri Lankan spinners have been the heroes for the team in both games so far. While it was Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Charith Asalanka in the first match, Jeffrey Vandersay was all over Indian batters in the second ODI.
