Babar Azam and other Pakistan stars were in splits as their teammate Abrar Ahmed was involved in a hilarious incident during the second day of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

The mood in the Pakistani dressing room was upbeat after their stunning fightback with the bat. In reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 312 runs, Pakistan were in deep trouble after being reduced to 101 for 5 with the likes of Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, and others back in the hut.

But before Sri Lanka could make further inroads, Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman steadied the ship and batted Pakistan to a respectable position by adding 177 runs for the sixth wicket. The partnership ended when Salman departed for 83.

Saud, on the other hand, went on to score his maiden double-century and remained unbeaten on 208 as Pakistan scored 461 runs in the first innings. He also shared a crucial 94-run stand for the ninth wicket with Naseem Shah who scored six runs off 78 balls.

Babar Azam & Co. burst into laughter at Abrar Ahmed’s antics:

Toward the end of Pakistan’s first innings, a hilarious incident took place when their number 11 Abrar Ahmed was batting. On the 5th ball of the 120th over, Abrar Ahmed was facing Sri Lanka’s right-arm spinner Ramesh Mendis. Even before Mendis could deliver the ball, Abrar Ahmed shuffled across before being almost undone by a sharp spinning delivery.

The ball spun and bounced and Abrar somehow managed to survive and it led to the hilarious situation. After turning sharply, the ball hit the batsman on his gloves before being stuck in his pad. Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Sadeera Samarawickrama then tried to snatch the ball and run Abrar out but the latter hilariously pushed his way outside the crease before rushing back inside the crease.

And as the event was unfolding, not only the Pakistani players in the dressing room but the Sri Lankan players also burst into laughter.
