Senior players like Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed also failed to deliver as Pakistan were staring down the barrel. However, Saud Shakeel scored his first Test double-century and shared crucial stands with lower-order players to help Pakistan post 461 runs and take a lead of 149 runs. He shared a 177-run stand with Agha Salman for the sixth wicket before sharing a 94-run stand with Naseem Shah for the ninth wicket.

Babar Azam’s stunning catch:
After the solid recovery with the bat, Pakistan has started well with the ball too. The tourists have reduced Sri Lanka to 91 for 3 and the credit for the third wicket should go to Babar Azam. The Pakistan captain took a stunning catch to send back the dangerous Angelo Mathews for just 7.
Noman Ali bowled a length ball around off stump and Mathews leaned forward for a front foot defence. However, he was undone by the turning ball and he ended up edging the ball behind the stumps. The ball went quickly to the left side of Babar Azam who reacted quickly and caught the ball with one hand. Even Babar Azam looked shocked after pulling off the catch.
