Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav slapped Rinku Singh after the IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Kuldeep slapped Rinku twice during the post-match interaction, which left many fans puzzled and sparked mixed reactions on social media.
It reminded fans of the infamous "slapgate" controversy from the IPL season in 2008. Mumbai Indians' spinner Harbhajan Singh slapped Kings XI Punjab pacer S Sreesanth. The Kerala-born pacer broke down in tears on live television. In response, the BCCI handed Harbhajan an 11-match suspension.

After the match, Kuldeep Yadav and Rinku Singh were chatting casually. Kuldeep slapped Rinku on the face, and the group was seen laughing. However, when the spinner repeated the act moments later, the Kolkata Knight Riders batter seemed uncomfortable and exchanged a few words with Kuldeep.
The incident, which went viral on social media, drew criticism from several fans who found Kuldeep’s actions inappropriate. The context seemed light-hearted at first, but Rinku’s reaction during the second slap showed he was not entirely amused, sparking debate online over whether the act crossed the line.

Rinku Singh and Kuldeep Yadav share a strong friendship and have played together for India. Both are expected to remain part of the team for the T20 World Cup scheduled for February 2026.
Rinku Singh's Modest Batting Form Continues in IPL 2025
Rinku Singh’s modest run with the bat in IPL 2025 continued during the match against Delhi Capitals. The left-hander scored 36 off 25 balls, including three boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 144.
Rinku, who was one of KKR’s top retentions before the mega auction, has scored 169 runs in 10 matches at an average of 33.80 and a strike rate of 145.68. Notably, he is yet to register a fifty this season, with his highest score being an unbeaten 38.
With Kolkata Knight Riders sitting seventh on the points table and needing to win all four of their remaining league games, Rinku will be expected to play a crucial role in the coming fixtures.
Kuldeep Yadav Goes Wicketless and Concedes 27 Runs in Three Overs
Kolkata Knight Riders posted a total of 204/9, with contributions from Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) and Rinku Singh (36). In response, Delhi Capitals reached only 190/9. Faf du Plessis (62), Axar Patel (43), and Vipraj Nigam (38) chipped in with crucial runs, but Sunil Narine’s 3/29 helped KKR secure a 14-run win.
Kuldeep Yadav had an off day, going wicketless and conceding 27 runs from three overs. This victory kept KKR's playoff hopes alive as they defended their total successfully. Meanwhile, the Axar Patel-led side suffered their second consecutive defeat, following a loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
