South Africa Playing 11 vs Australia- 2nd ODI, South Africa Tour of Australia 2025:
Openers: Ryan Rickelton (wk), Aiden Markram
The Proteas would be high on confidence, having won the first of the three ODIs against Australia, and would like to build on the momentum that they have picked up after the first match.
Batting first, South Africa posted a challenging total on a wicket which has something in it for the bowlers, especially the spinners, as the ball was stopping and gripping a bit in the surface, and batting wasn't easy.
Yet the visitors were able to put on a strong performance with the bat and were led by Aiden Markram, who missed a well-deserved hundred by 18 runs and was well supported by captain Temba Bavuma, who also scored a half-century.
The team management would want the batters to replicate the same performance in the second ODI as well.
The onus will be on Aiden Markram to get his team off to a good start, along with Ryan Rickelton, who missed out with the bat in the first match and would wish to make up for it in the next game.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Temba Bavuma (c), Matthew Breetzke, Tristan Stubbs, Dewald Brevis, Wiaan Mulder
The openers would want the team's middle-order batters, especially the youngsters, to capitalize on the platform laid by them.
The likes of Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis will take the upcoming match as an opportunity to prove their credentials in ODI cricket as well, after doing their bit in the recently concluded T20I series.
Along with the duo, the team would also bank on the captain, Temba Bavuma, to lead from the front like he did in the first outing.
South Africa would want to post a similar kind of score that they did in the first match, which proved to be more than enough
The responsibility of guiding the team to a score within that range would be on all-rounder Wiaan Mulder, who scored a quick-fire 31 runs of 26 balls and was well supported by Keshav Maharaj.
The pair added crucial runs at the backend of South Africa's innings and did not let Australia have any chance of making a comeback.
Bowlers: Keshav Maharaj, Prenelan Subrayen, Lungi Ngidi, Nandre Burger
The visitors would also want their bowlers to repeat the performance they delivered in the first ODI, as they pulled things back extremely well after Australia got off to a good start in pursuit of 297 runs.
The team's bowling was led by the two spinners in the form of Keshav Maharaj and Prenelan Subrayen, both of whom kept things tight in the second powerplay and will look to do the same in the next match.
As far as the fast bowling department is concerned, it was handled well by Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger in the absence of Kagiso Rabada.
The Temba Bavuma-led side might go with the same personnel that played the opening match of the series.
